[ILUG-Cochin.org] Wordpress backup/restore

Hi
 
I needed some help with wordpress.
I been trying to back up a blog run by wordpress to backing up the
database
I backed up the database and restored it
Database: MySQL
 
But even after restoring the database, the blog still shows no posts
I have been told that you can backup the blog into xml from within
Wordpress
But that option is also not there, coz the original blog got deleted on
expiry of webserver
 
Can anyone help me with this?
Not sure what to do.
 
I've looked at forums with no success
Has anyone faced something similar to this before.
 
P.S.: I have SSH access to the server, so I can run mysql commands there
too.
