[ILUG-Cochin.org] how to upgrade alsadriver?

Dear all........Will the upgrading of alsa improve the sound quality? I
tried arecordmidi command as a part of making a webpage .And didn't succeed.
In the mailing list somebody said that it may be due alsa. he also said that
it is to be upgraded. If it is so how to upgrade it ? Sreenadh said that it
needs some hardware......I expect ur help in this issue.(the alsa driver
version also is given below)
