first sorry for being late to reply.
actually it was my mistake that is i didnt read the install file fully 
sorry.
i was giving this cmd:./configure CC=c99 CFLAGS=-g LIBS=-lposix
instead of this : ./configure
i am really sorry.

Now i landed on another one...
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you 
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables PANEL_CFLAGS
and PANEL_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

same thing i got when i was install firefox latest in Debian-etch.
any help please...
