[ILUG-Cochin.org] Academic Projects And PHP

I wanted to make this into the attention of the community.

In many engineering colleges across Kerala, students are not given the
freedom to choose their project topics. There are a few colleges which dont
allow students to use PHP, saying that its too simple/hard. Some say web
apps are sub standard.

Is there anything that we can do to prevent such nonsense ?
