Antara is written in GNU C/C++ (MingW on Win32), the GUI uses FOXToolkit, the firmware is compiled with ASEM51, the cicruit diagrams are made with GNU PCB and all the artwork is done using GIMP and InkScape. 'Antara' in Sanskrit means 'in-between', it also means 'within'. An ISP lies IN BETWEEN the PC & the target device and places a .hex file from the PC WITHIN the target device.
